Partridges and Goldfinches
A bright snowy day and a covey of partridge gather in the sunshine. I painted the backdrop for this work outside from life, in the field just by the gallery. Goldfinches abound here, feeding on the thistle heads, the gold black and crimson of their plumage, glowing in the winter light. The partridge often run across the car park outside, scuttling in close formation.
