Curlew Portrait

A favourite bird...mind you, they're a devil to paint with that bill!
I  have a treasured specimen to work from which helps with the proportions of the beak and intricate plumage patterns.
They nest in the fields up behind our house and I eagerly anticipate their return each March, with their wonderful bubbling call.
