Kestrel Portrait
A life-sized study of a male kestrel.
As buzzards, kites and barn owls have become more numerous over the past 30 years, here in the Peak District, kestrels have sadly declined. Despite that, I am lucky to have a male bird regularly hunt the fields outside my studio window. It's quite wonderful to watch it glide, swoop and hover so effortlessly.
