The Lightning Tree

This imposing painting depicts three of my semi-tame pheasants, which I bred and released last year. They often congregate, tolerating each other, as they wait for me to arrive with their breakfast!
I am pleased with the light in this picture which I worked on for a couple of months on-and-off, beginning in September (which is the time of year it depicts), ending in darkest November. The sheep were a nightmare...and I very nearly didn't put them in... but on reflection feel they are an integral part of the painting.
